Join us to celebrate the history of Worthing town Pier!
Pupils from schools in the Borough can take part in the following competitions / events to support The Celebration on Saturday 11th July 2015. For more information read the article below and click on the links to view the Schools’ Pack and Entry Forms.
1. Worthing Pier Festival Art, Poetry and Story Writing competitions
To celebrate the history of Worthing Pier the Worthing Youth Council are holding a festival of celebration at the Pier from 2.00 – 5.00 p.m. on Saturday 11th July.
Part of the festival will include a celebration of the Pier through Art, Poetry and Music. If you would like your school to take part please complete and return the form in this pack together with your pupils work by Friday 19th June 2015.
The following work can be submitted:
- Paintings and Posters of the Pier, Past, Future and Present (A4 or A3 size)
- Poetry
- Short Stories about Worthing Pier
- Music that your pupils will perform on the pier on the 11th July 2015
Possible subjects might include:
- A Stormy Day
- Paddle Steamers
- A day on the Pier
- Pier Amusements
- The Great Storm of 1913
- Worthing Pier fire of 1933
- Holidays
How to take part?
All work must be forwarded or delivered to the town hall before Friday 19th June 2015 with a completed submission form. Those whose work has been selected a will be notified on or before Saturday 4th July 2015.
