In early April 2015, the Adur and Worthing Youth Council will be ‘burying’ a time capsule in the underside of the newly vamped Pier decking. The time capsule will contain art work, letters, stories and poems produced by young people in schools across Worthing, along with postcards from youth councillors, and photos of our pier as it is today. It will also include a visual tour of the pier with our Youth and Deputy Youth Mayor explaining the project in more detail, and aspects of the pier which have changed over the years making it what it is today, along with interviews with our youth councillors talking about why the pier is so special to them.
If you are a school, teacher or pupil in Worthing and would like to contribute your work to the time capsule, then please email us at info@worthingpier.org.uk. Please note that the deadline for submitting your work is Friday 20th March. A plaque will be unveiled at our mid-project celebration event in July 2015, please stay tuned for more information about this event.
It is hoped that the time capsule will be opened in 25 years’ time when it will still be possible to contact those young people who have contributed to it.
